For the first meeting, I like to start developing your pregnancy support plan. I provide you with emotional and physical support during journey. I'll provide customized education, access, and support to meet your needs and the needs of your family.
Suggested Scheduling: Around 25 weeks of pregnancy
In this meeting, I like to start developing your birth plan. I like to get a good sense of what is important to you, your hopes and maybe even fears going into labor, birth and postpartum. I also like to provide inclusive education on prenatal lactation and childbirth.
Suggested Scheduling: Around 30 weeks of pregnancy
During our third meeting, I like to polish your birth and assistance with writing Postpartum Sanctuary Plan, help you prepare your home for baby, and celebrate the end of your pregnancy. This is the meeting that you will also meet the back-up birth doula if one will be apart of your support plan.
Suggested Scheduling: Around 35 weeks of pregnancy
Babies have perfect timing, but sometimes that means labor starts at odd times and usually not on your due date. I will be waiting on your call 3 weeks before your estimated due date, until your birth. If labor begins before you are full term (before 37 weeks) please still give me a call!
I will provide you with continuous support throughout your birth in home, at the hospital or birth center. I am honored to support you and witness your strength. I will encourage you and challenge you to experience a new comfort zone by recommending laboring or birthing positions that are evidence based and proven to support your comfort, labor progression, and promote optimal fetal positioning. I will provide 3 hours of postpartum support immediately after birth to assist you with skin-to-skin bonding with baby, rooming, showering/bathing, and lactation support.
You will receive two postpartum visits after your birth. I will assist you to implement and fulfill your Postpartum Sanctuary Plan. However, postpartum support can really vary based on your needs and birth experience. I am here for all the changes. Typically, I support parents with newborn care, lactation support, newborn schedule adjustment, birth processing and resource support.
Scheduling: The first postpartum appointment needs to be scheduled either during the first week of birth. The second appointment must be scheduled within the first 3 months. Both visits are most helpful within the first month postpartum.
For parents choosing to feed their babies human milk, I recommend that the first postpartum visit be on Day 3 after the birth. Also, your milk comes in around Day 3 and I strive to be present to support your lactation and feeding goals. I bring in Peer Breastfeeding Counselor, Shevonne Tsegaye and all her incredible lactation knowledge to support you. Afterwards, all other appointments can be scheduled as needed. Appointments are virtual by default or in-person upon request.
The fee for Pregnancy and Birth Doula Support starts at $1,500. A retainer allows you to secure my 24/7 on-call availability starting at 37 weeks and until your little one(s) is born. Payments are arranged as follows if I am selected as your doula:
Add ons:
Day 3 Lactation Support + 2 Hrs of additional lactation support with Shevonne Tsegaye - $250
Prenatal or Postpartum Massage Therapy with Myesha Mitchell - $160 per session
At the start of COVID, a lot of shops had to revise how clients interact with their shops. Well, my favorite bra shop converted doing virtual bra measurements. A Bra That Fits was the guide/calculator provided on their site, and it's great! It will even provide the sibling size!
Bra still fits? It's ya fave? BUT! Need it to work better with your lactation and feeding goals? Well, Nordstrom will convert your bra into a nursing bra for $18 (confirmed with Nordstrom - Pine St; 10/08/2020). You don't have to make an appointment, you can just walk in.
Centering Black Indigenous queer care ensures access for even the most marginalized in our communities. Culturally congruent care improves infant and maternal health outcomes.

Whether you are facing a miscarriage, abortion, infant loss, or stillbirth, you deserve support. I do provide hands on labor support both in home or at a hospital. Pregnancy loss should not be endured alone, and postpartum care is still a necessity. My support also extends to partner support in case of loss of the birthing parent.

I strive to create a brave space where folx can feel comfortable with being vulnerable in expressing their emotions and sharing their stories. Grief is not linear, and it does not look the same for everyone. I will help you consider all your options in welcoming and home-going time with your baby.

Prices range from $50-70. She does offer sliding scale if needed. Additionally, you get to try out various bindings to see which suits you best, she does a warming tea service and apply belly balm. Postpartum Belly Binding is the African American tradition of gently wrapping the sternum and pelvis with a cloth to assist with supporting the mothers hips, back, and abdominal muscles directly in the first weeks and months after childbirth, when the core muscles are at their weakest. Belly Binding supports back muscles and postural alignment, helps shrink the uterus to its normal size (involution), supports closing of the abdominal muscles from diastasis recti, compresses the uterus to help decrease postpartum bleeding, holds hips and pelvis together to help return to its postpartum state, and alleviates back pain.

BLKBRY is accepting donor human milk from Washington State residents only at this time and will assist with coordinating shipping so that you can safely ship your milk to BLKBRY. If shipping is not an option, we will help coordinate to make sure the milk gets to a Black family in your area.
You may donate milk (for consumption) that has been stored for up to 4 months in a refrigerator freezer and up to 9 months in a deep freezer. Milk pumped prior to donor approval may be accepted for donation.
Best practices to ensure the safety of your milk:
Yes, BLKBRY does accept undrinkable frozen human milk, as long as it was frozen prior to expiration and based on storage capacity. Human milk is amazing, can be used in various ways, and used to treat various conditions too. However, priority of human milk approval is to drinkable milk.
Human milk is great for milk baths to sooth and moisturize the skin. I'm always open to sharing with you about what you can use your undrinkable milk for it BLKBRY is unable to accept it.
The BLKBRY's milk bank was created to bridge the gap for Black families to receive donor human milk at no-cost to them. While donors can be of any race, ethnicity, or culture; the pregnant, birthing, and/or lactating parent must be Black in order to receive milk.
Must be a Black Family (with Black birthing or Black lactating parent).
Babies less than a year old, and no prescription necessary may receive milk based on availability. Family must reside in the Puget Sound Area of Seattle. BLKBRY is working to expand to all of Washington State.
In the event of a milk shortage, babies less than three months old or who have critical medical conditions will be served first.
If availability is low, BLKBRY may ask verification from your child’s care provider showing the medical necessity for donor milk.
Donor milk may not available for long-term use. It is meant to be used as a resource to help you transition to your permanent feeding plan. If you're a lactating parent, BLKBRY will connect you to a lactation specialist to support your lactation and feeding journey. Think of it as a bridge between your short-term needs of today and your long-term plans for tomorrow. There are instances where BLKBRY will attempt to secure milk for long-term use.
Once approved, you can pick up your frozen milk at BLKBRY in Burien, WA or schedule a drop off, if you live within 30 minutes of BLKBRY. BLKBRY does not charge, so there is no cost to you to receive donor milk.
If you live further away, please still apply. BLKBRY can coordinate with you, your support person, or hospital to get milk to you.

Glaring disparities and disproportionate rates continue to widen the gap of nursing Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) families and communities. Historically, marginalized populations do not have the privilege or access to food that is associated with their family’s values, food culture, and identity. After years of politicalization, cultural food shaming, and gatekeeping for monetization, there is a resurgence of BIPOC families reestablishing cultural infant and toddler feeding practices. Generational trauma, chronic stressors coupled with the effects of social determinants of health demonstrate the need for the Lactation and Feeding Specialist classification.
Social justice concepts are inherently integrated throughout all aspects of training, facilitation, and curriculum. The classification of this title is an indication that the individual is trained and experienced in the competencies of human lactation, breast/chestfeeding, alternative feeding methods, and baby-led feeding (also known as baby-led weaning). It’s acknowledged that for BIPOC folks there are various pathways to gain the competencies to educate and support their communities with lactation and feeding.
A Lactation and Feeding Specialist has completed a culturally responsive 45 hour breast/chestfeeding and human lactation course, and has experience or 20 hours of training in cultural infant and toddler feeding practices that meet the lactation and infant/toddler feeding competencies.
A Lactation and Feeding Specialist, may choose to take a training through The B.L.A.C.K. Course to meet the human lactation and nursing competencies, and Solid Starts for infant and toddler feeding practices competencies.
